Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok
The Siam Kempinski, opened in 2010, is an oasis of calm in hectic Bangkok. It is adjacent to the Siam Paragon Shopping Mall and just a few minutes from the BTS Skytrain. However you may not want to leave as the entire 17 story building is s triangular structure that completely encloses their central pools and garden area giving it more of a resort feeling. It’s one of the main points of what make this largely commercial hotel stand out from others. The other is the agreeable staff that all seem to be amazingly knowledgeable.
The hotel offers several options for dining and lounging. The Sra Bua by Kiin Kiin restaurant, with a contemporary ambience, serves traditional and contemporary Thai food. The Brasserie Europa is a European-style restaurant offering an international menu for breakfast and all-day dining, with inside or terrace seating available.
The informal but slick Rotunda garden bar and restaurant is surrounded by pools, water features, palm trees and gardens, where complimentary fruit and water are provided for guests. The bar is open all day, and the restaurant serves grilled and healthy options for lunch and dinner.
1897 Bar is a modern version of a small gentlemen's club lounge with a wide choice of cigars and fine cognac and wines; seating is inside with leather armchairs or outside on a private terrace. The T lounge looks out onto a garden terrace and offers a selection of 60 teas from around the world. In the evening, a pianist entertains, and live music is a regular feature.
The spa offers all the usual head-to-toe massage options accompanied by aromatherapy and an assortment of beauty treatments as well. The natural products are from Elemental Herbology of London.
The gym has 16 high-tech cardiovascular workout stations with complimentary early-morning aerobic classes plus a Jacuzzi, steam bath and sauna.
The three outdoor saltwater pools are exceptionally well-designed with green islands, a Jacuzzi, sundecks, lawns and loungers, all surrounded by palms and flowering Frangipani trees. Families with children will appreciate the Kempinski Kida Club that is complimentary for kids age 3 – 12 and is staffed by three qualified assistants.
All the rooms have great natural daylight, outside balcony access, Wi-Fi and high-tech AVA equipment.
A permanently staffed business center is available for photocopying, printing, scanning, video conferencing and Internet computer stations. It also includes two additional small meeting rooms that can be hired by the hour.
A BMW 7-Series limousine and Volkswagen VIP van are available for airport transfers or sightseeing trips. There's a huge secure underground car park for 400 vehicles, which is free to guests, as is valet parking.
Deluxe, Premier and Executive rooms are 400 sq. ft. and basically the same but in different locations; Executive rooms have additional amenities. Hallways are smart, spacious and decorated with some of the 4,000 artworks that are scattered throughout the hotel. All rooms have a furnished balcony or terrace, most of which overlook the garden and pool. Cabana rooms and duplex suites have a unique feature of direct pool access from their terrace via wide stone steps.
Queen size beds have excellent reading spotlights and master controls over floor, ceiling and soft-lighting options. Business users are well-served with a stylish glass desk, lamp, USB and HDMI connectivity, complimentary Wi-Fi, duel phone lines and voicemail. Other standard features include a 42-inch LED TV, espresso machine, complimentary minibar (excluding spirits) and a fresh ice bucket that comes with the turndown service.
Baths feature spectacular marble and glass walls (with electronic shutters), giving a great sense of extra space. The elegant free-standing tub, separate rain-forest and power shower, and designer sink create a very stylish effect.
