Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel
Fairmont The Norfolk Hotel has played a leading role in Kenya's colorful history, and continues to be Nairobi's finest and best-known luxury hotel. The town and later the modern city of Nairobi grew up around Fairmont The Norfolk hotel, which still has its own private tropical gardens. The hotel is still the traditional starting point for safaris and the Lord Delamere Terrace is modern Nairobi's most famous meeting place, where drinks and light meals are served continuously from morning until midnight.
Fairmont The Norfolk was expanded in 1999 and subsequently renovated in time for its centennial, which it celebrated in 2004. The Nairobi hotel now offers accommodations in 165 guest rooms and suites, has eight conference rooms, the largest seating 175 delegates, a heated outdoor swimming pool, health club with gym, sauna and steam room, beauty salon, book shop and gift shops.
All guest rooms are luxuriously furnished, have plush carpeting and deep velour soft furnishings. The guest rooms all have bedside lamps, dressing tables, built-in wardrobes, luggage racks, refreshment center, and safety deposit boxes. Every room has a telephone and telephone directory, direct dialing facilities, a television linked to satellite dish, electrical mosquito repellent and air-conditioning. Back-up generators in the hotel allow for 24-hour electricity.
There are six restaurants in the hotel, one to suit every mood and palate. The Tea Room offers traditional high-tea in a comfortable setting. The relaxed setting of the Cin Cin Wine Bar is the perfect spot to unwind, while the Lord Delamere Terrace is the ideal spot for people watching. The extensive room service menu is always an option when a more private setting is preferred.
The Health & Fitness Centre is located above the poolside restaurant. Trained professionals staff the facility. Services include aerobics classes, one-on-one training and registered massages. The fitness centre offers state-of-the-art equipment including free weights along with treadmills, lifecycles and nautilus machines. Separate spa facilities for men and women include changing rooms with showers, steam bath, sauna, restrooms and spa treatment rooms.
