On a lovely stretch of beach, and brought to you by the same company that put food processors on many kitchen counters, this hotel takes that grinding trend one step further by being the only property in the Caribbean to grow produce in their hydraponic green houses. The chef's organic herb garden spices up dishes served throughout the resort. In fact, the hotel offers tours where culinary foodies literally eat up the scientific process of growing everything from cherry tomatoes to fresh basil that is as delicious and colorful as can be.

Set on approximately 10 acres of marvelously landscaped grounds, this snowy-white complex sports blue domes in imitation of the charming azure-splashed churches of Greece. Like the famed white-washed architecture in the Aegean, buildings here feature minimalist swipes of turquoise and teal on doors and window frames, as well as the hallmark domes.

The lobby overlooks a lovely infinity pool that lingers for seemingly a mile before it drops to a fountain. The atmosphere is relaxed, and breezes blow straight through the public areas. This space spills onto a sea-view terrace, where guests may enjoy cocktails and light fare.

The large infinity-edge pool features an adjacent bar and two bocce pitches, two tennis courts and a croquet lawn. The adjacent library contains a billiards table, and guests are always invited to pluck any piece of fruit they see hanging throughout the gardens for their enjoyment.

The open-air Mediterranean restaurant hosts lavish seafood buffets and a manager's cocktail party each week. The elegant Santorini restaurant boasts a good wine list and a theater kitchen is the centerpiece of the restaurant's new tasting menus, which, for an extra cost, can be paired with an impressive wine menu selected from the glass-enclosed cellar.  

All the rooms are housed in white-washed stucco cottages inspired by the Greek Aegean and tagged with familiar place names such as Mykonos and Rhodes. These oversized units offer a bevy of tropical touches aimed to impress. Bright island-print spreads, drapes and upholstery make a bold backdrop for the hotel's daring art collection, much of which is for sale. Most notable are the rich sea blues and turquoises that essentially transport the exterior views directly into the room. Design shows in tile floors, elegant arched windows, and furnishings of exotic woods and woven rattan Sliding glass doors revealing the sea or gardens are thoughtfully screened for those who prefer trade winds and ceiling fans to air conditioning or mosquitoes. Standard amenities include vast lighted walk-in closets, futons, dual-line phones with voice mail, TVs, VCRs, and complimentary minibars.

The glamorous baths let in extra light through glass blocks, and some feature private solariums for sunbathing au naturel. The oversized tubs are terrific for soaking, stall showers appeal to Americans, and the lavish full-sized salon toiletries will please the cosmetic-crazed. The lovely furnished terraces all have good views, with those in the main building focusing on the pool and sea. Note that superior rooms lack water views.

The signature spa, the island's most elaborate, comprises a well-equipped gym, aerobics rooms, yoga classes and saunas. The menu of health and beauty treatments is extensive, also offering pedicures, herbal wraps and massages. A fitness instructor keeps guests buff in the gym.

Wedding at Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club


Aurora Anguilla Resort & Golf Club offers several options for wedding settings. The Wedding Gazebo overlooks the beach and is elegantly bedecked with flowers or draped with breezy panels of sheer silks. The Pergola is a private courtyard at the center of the resort with garlands of lush bougainvillea; it is ideal for small, intimate weddings. Or the bride and groom can also choose to hold their ceremony simply on the beach, walking down the aisle of soft powdery sand.

Local officials are available for most religious beliefs and traditions. There are also several requirements to getting married in Anguilla:

-You must be on island at least three working days prior to your wedding (48 hours for processing marriage license) Bride and groom must both be present with valid passports.

-If married before, original divorce decree papers with the court's seal and stamp.
