Qualia
Qualia resort, located on the northernmost tip of Hamilton Island consists of 27 north facing windward pavilions and 33 west facing leeward pavilions. The luxury compound is gated and very private. In keeping with the natural beauty of the area only local native materials such as hoop pine and kwila hardwood and Bowen bluestone were used. The same is true of landscaping. Indigenous species such as lilly pilly, grevillea and eucalyptus have been combined with screens of bamboo and thriving cardamom bushes; gnarled frangipani trees add creamy color and perfume but the feel is of tousled bush land, with water views at almost every turn.
The guest pavilions are enormous, with lounge, bedroom and oversized bathroom. Accommodations are also equipped with a flat-screen television (150 channels) and all known techno-amenities that the 21st century luxury traveler demands.
Qualia means "a collection of deeper sensory experiences" in Latin. From the panoramic window in your pavilion's lounge, you’ll view the parade of goings-on in the Whitsunday Passage. It's like a wall-sized TV tuned to a water sports channel. There are catamarans, yachts and small cruisers; there are tiny runabouts and the striped sails of parasailing daredevils whooshing across the horizon.
The spa is an oasis of calm and indulgence and there’s enough of a selection of treatments to keep any spa person happy for days. Body wraps come in flavors such as chocolate and cherry; hands and feet are cooled with cucumber and mint. After this, chill out in the temple like yoga and meditation pavilion.
