King George Palace
A legend since 1936, The King George Palace has been home to kings, princes, presidents and Athenian elites.
Guest rooms come in several styles including classic French decor and 19th-century English townhouse style. These spacious accommodations could be categorized as junior suites, with a separate seating corner, hardwood floors and twin beds with a plush headboard. Standard in-room amenities include CD players, laptop safes, minibars, fast Internet access and Bulgari toiletries. Some rooms have a small balcony as well as a separate shower and a Murano mural in the bath. Most rooms overlook the inner courtyard. Those on the front face Syntagma Square, with the rooms on the upper floors having the added privilege of commanding views of the Acropolis.
The hotel's top accommodation is the Royal Penthouse Suite, which occupies the entire ninth floor, thus providing enough space to entertain dozens of guests inside the suite or on its terrace with private rooftop pool and excellent view of the Acropolis. Guests of this suite enjoy butler service, a limousine, and such added bath amenities as a whirlpool and a steam bath.
Open to guests only, the well-appointed basement health club features an indoor pool, whirlpool, steam bath, sauna, a small but well-equipped gym, and two treatment rooms.
The hotels Space bar located on the ground floor is one of the "hot" clubs where sophisticated Athenians meet for cocktails before and after dinner. Just to view the unique Konstantine Kakanias paintings here is reason enough to visit.
