Gran Hotel Miramar

To visit Malaga is to visit the home of Pablo Picasso. The city has a museum with some of the most important works of Spain’s most famous artist. If you walk around the city you can find up to 35 museums, cinemas, theatres and historical landmarks like the Alcazaba, the Roman Theatre, Gibralfaro Castle and a stunning cathedral. Located in the cultural hub of La Caleta, Gran Hotel Miramar is within easy reach of the Museo Picasso and Museo Carmen Thyssen Malaga museums, and boasting a fabulous seafront location with breathtaking views across the bay of Malaga. The hotel is just a 15-minutes’ drive from Malaga InternationalAirport.

Gran Hotel Miramar boasts 109 rooms, 23 Deluxe Suites, 2 Crown Suites and 4 Royal Suite – all characterized by their elegance and attention to detail, stunning views and Mediterranean sounds. The hotel is also home to a fabulous ballroom; five restaurants and bars including a rooftop chill out zone; an intimate boutique spa; an outdoor pool; and extensive meetings and events facilities.

Gran Hotel Miramar is the first grand luxury hotel ever built in the ancient Andalusian city of Malaga. The hotel is a historic landmark building in the old city centre which has been painstakingly restored following a two year, 65m Euros overhaul, Gran Hotel Miramar has re-emerged as one of Europe’s foremost grand dames, firmly establishing Malaga on the global luxury travel map.

The iconic building was designed by celebratedSpanish architect Fernando Guerrero Strachan, and inaugurated in 1926 by KingAlfonso XIII as the Hotel Principe de Asturias. It has undergone many incarnations since then, including a stint as a field hospital during the Spanish Civil War and a 20-
year period as the city’s courthouse. The assiduous renovation returned this majestic edifice to its former glory, preserving or revitalising many of its original features, including intricate Moorish carved wood arches, a beautiful first floor gallery,Andalusian tiling, hand-painted frescoes and ornate stucco ceilings.
