The Berns Salonger
Since it opened a century and a half ago in 1863, The Berns Salonger hotel has set the standard for Scandinavian luxury in Stockholm, Sweden. The marble bathrooms are somewhat small, but feature lavish touches like magnifying mirrors and heated towel racks.
The Medium Rooms are tastefully outfitted with cherry wood furniture, and many feature French balconies. The Large Rooms with Balconies contain modern interiors and impressive views of Stockholm, including Berzelli Park, Dramaten, and the Nybroviken waterfront. The furnishings include a comfortable sofa, a spacious wardrobe, TV, sound system, and mini bar. World-renowned entertainers like Marlene Dietrich and Diana Ross have all enjoyed these suites. Best of all is The Clock Suite, build behind the distinguished Berns Clock. This fully-renovated, two-story suite offers spectacular views of Berzelii Park and the Nybroviken Harbor. The always cutting-edge Berns Salonger is home to one of Stockholm’s hottest nightlife venues, 2:35:1. This exclusive, members-only nightclub was recently refurbished with black and white walls and red velvet furniture. Innovative deejays play an eclectic mix of club music, mash-ups, and everything in between, while video art beams down from the three 120" and 8 40" black glass screens. Regulars and hotel-guests are routinely privileged to experience performances by artists that are normally too famous to play a concert for 250 people.
While 2:35:1 is the premier nightlife destination, the Berns Salonger also features several other happening bars for guests to enjoy. The opulently gilded and mirrored ‘Spegelbaren’ and ‘The Terrace’ are found overlooking the Berns Asian restaurant. Meanwhile, ‘Hallen’ offers Berns Asian’s sumptuous menu, plus Chinese afternoon tea. The Berns Salonger is also surrounded by a good number of trendy, open-air bars and cafes.
In 1944, the always-intrepid Berns Salonger became the home of Sweden’s first Chinese restaurant. Today, this tradition of exotic and gourmet Asian cuisine is continued by Berns Asian, a genuine brasserie environment with food from all corners of Asia. During the weekends they serve an Asian brunch, and in the afternoon guests can enjoy ‘Yum Cha’ (Chinese tea) and dumplings, plus an exceptional desert buffet. In addition, several fantastic sushi chefs are on hand during lunch, and dinner.
