Built in 1900 in the quiet neighborhood of Alcantara, the Pestana Palace retains the feeling of the era. It was the former home of the Marquis of Valle Flor and declared a national monument in 1997. Since then it has undergone a major renovation looked after by the interior designer, Pedro Espirito Santo and supervised by the architect Manuel Tainha. The results are quite interesting as there is an eclectic mix of art work to be enjoyed in the public areas. Luckily, all of the rooms and suites have great views of the Tagus and the gardens. In summer you can dine on sophisticated salads and sandwiches between dips in the pool.
