The Athens Hilton has stood the test of time. Back in the 60"s it was just about the only place to stay except maybe for the Grand Bretagne. The city has changed dramatically since the Olympics and there are definitely more options. However the Hilton, not to be outdone by all the new talent, has had a major facelift and is really pretty terrific. The rooms, always large by most standards, are now bright and airy and done in a Scandinavian decor. Be sure to get a room with a balcony facing the Acropolis. The executive rooms are even a better value. They are quite a bit larger and have great baths with separate shower and tub. Two other aspects of the hotel always stood out. The pool and the rooftop bar. Both have been redone. The pool may feel a bit more Beverly Hills then Athens. This is a good thing! However it is the roof top bar which always had that "WOW" factor. Now it’s even better!Having cocktails while the sun is setting over the city, the Acropolis and the Aegean is pretty special. Life is sweet!
