Amasara was orriginally built as guest quarters by King Sihanouk to accommodate his visitors who were unable, for one reason or another, to stay at the nearby royal palace. It was turned into a hotel in 1965 but closed in 1975 by the Khemer Rouge. Amanresorts acquired the property in 2002 and has meticulously reconstructed it. They, of course, added all of the Aman touches that make their hotels so special. There are 24 suites, 12 with their own small pool. The property also has two other pools, one which is suitable for laps.
The temples of Angkor are world renowned and should be experienced by all serious travelers. As part of the guest experience Amasara provides conducted early morning and late afternoon private tours using their moped-powered trishaws called remorks and which are pictured above. This is included in hotel rate.
Half board (Breakfast, lunch or dinner) is mandatory and charged in addition to the room rate at 85.00 per person and 100.00 per person in the high season. As with all Amanresorts there is no charge for use of the mini bar.
Siem Reap is a wonderful experience and staying at Amansara for those fortunate enough will guarantee the perfect memory of a time beautifully spent.
