Overview: Privacy, peace and serenity reign at this gated and completely fenced estate, set on three beautiful acres. Indochine's electronic gate ushers you into the cobblestone courtyard, and stairs lead up to the coral stone entrance with french doors.
Inside the Villa
The large foyer, sparingly furnished with magnificent Asian antiques and West Indian pieces set off by polished mahogany floors.
Just off the foyer, at the front of the villa, is a very spacious library with a full bath; this lovely room can accommodate two twin beds, should you need a fourth bedroom suite. Tall arched windows with curtains frame the views of the sea and gardens outside. A Cybex electric exercise bike and Gravitron assisted weight pull-up machine stand ready in a corner. The bath features a graceful Asian vanity and tiled shower. On the other side of the foyer is the large living room, set with low, cushioned settees and an armoire with with a flat screen TV and DVD media system. The villa has cable TV and wireless high-speed internet.
Three bedroom/bath suites are situated between the living room and the kitchen and dining room - a hallway from living room accesses the king and a queen suites, and the master suite. All bedroom/bath suites are fashioned in clean, sleek Indonesian style, each bed draped with white netting and made up in cotton bedding and each bed featuring all-organic mattresses. Carefully-chosen Asian antiques and pristine white walls combine to enhance the zen feel of these so-serene rooms. The queen suite has french doors which open out to the east patio, and the king suite opens to the flat expanse of green lawn outside. Several of the beds are made from the same mahogany as the polished floors and some are antique Indonesian day beds; all are positioned to provide views that reach across the sea to the horizon without lifting your head from your pillow. The king master suite offers an adjoining dressing area with closets and a large bath with an exotic bamboo-lined alfresco shower.
The Grounds
On the east side of the living room are tall, arched french doors which open to a roofed tiled terrace just outside, and on the west side, french doors lead to the sheltered alfresco garden lanai. There, antique Balinesian teak daybeds, swathed in netting, invite you to nap or read or have an apertif - the setting is divine and relaxing, with ceiling fans, romantic lighting and lovely rock gardens edging the lanai.
An air-conditioned outdoor dining area for eight, enclosed by french doors, adjoins the lanai, and the grand professional chef's kitchen is just beyond. The kitchen is fantastic - high-ceilinged with glass-fronted cupboards and lined with chef-quality appliances such as a big, stainless steel commercial refrigerator/freezer, a butcher block chef's table, triple sinks, an 8-burner Vulcan professional range with double ovens and a griddle top, a KitchenAid mixer, and all chef's tools. An antique Indian handpainted kitchen table is the spot for breakfast in this airy kitchen. A bank of windows along the kitchen wall feature fantastic ocean views punctuated by Grass, Mingo and Thatch Cays, and Condo and Lovango islets, with the green islands of St. John, Tortola and Jost Van Dyke looming on the blue horizon.
French doors lead from the bedroom out to a tiled patio, and a staircase descends through landscaping to the picturesque pool, hot tub and surrounding sun deck. The pool deck, graced with a wind-sculptured tree, looks out over the grand panorama of islands, limitless ocean and sky. A path through the gardens leads to Indochine's meditation pavilion, a quiet and private place for personal time. Indochine is another world apart, a completely private estate providing a sanctuary of serene relaxation and tranquility. The white sand of world-famous Magens Bay Beach is just two miles down the road, but you may find you would rather stay enveloped within the peaceful surround of Indochine, marveling at the views, listening to birdsong and the tradewinds whispering through the trees.
Housekeeping and Staffing
Caretakers, Gustavo and Alba, live in an apartment below with a private entrance. But no part of the villa's living areas or pool area can be seen from their apartment, so your privacy at Indochine is completely assured.
Gustavo is the resident chef and Alba is the housekeeper. Alba is available for babysitting for up to 2 hours daily, with advanced notice, at an additional charge of $20 per hour. The cooking talents of Gustavo are included in Indochine's rental rates. He prepares cuisine using only fresh fruits, vegatables, fish and poultry. All meals are made from scratch. Gustavo will cook and serve your choice of five meals per week (you pay for your groceries and you choose what meals you'd like Gustavo to cook and serve). Please ask if you would like to see a sample of Gustavo's menu. Any additional meals you'd like Gustavo to cook for you will be charged at $50 for each extra continental breakfast, and $100 (1-4 people) for each addtional full (cooked) breakfast, lunch or dinner, plus the cost of your groceries.
Ricky and Lucy are Indochine's resident Labrador dogs who live in a kennel there. If you are a dog lover, they can be allowed out at your request. They are good dogs and do not bark.
Indochine is a non-smoking villa.
