The Farm at Cape Kidnappers is located on the North Island in the Hawke's Bay, one of New Zealand's most important and loveliest wine districts and favourite vacation spots.
The new lodge, or 'The Farm' as it is called, promises to be another iconic, 'not to be missed' experience. Like Kauri Cliffs, Cape Kidnappers is set on a 5,000,acre sheep and cattle farm which rolls along cliffs that plunge dramatically to the sea.
On the exterior the lodge resembles a cluster of farm buildings, designed to blend with the rustic feel of the area. The interior features the same luxurious comfort and originality of Kauri Cliffs. Spacious cottages, each with a breathtaking view, high ceilings, fireplaces and large luxury bathrooms, fan out from the main building. Graceful French doors lead to large outdoor porches looking out at a stunning 180 degree Pacific panorama stretching from the Art Deco city of Napier all the way to Black Reef in the south.
Dining at Cape Kidnappers is exceptional. The seasonal menu reflects the rustic character of the region. In addition to the dining room, there is also a wine tasting room, which features an extensive wine list including a selection of locally-produced varietals. Chef Dale Gartland heads the Farm. Trained in England, Dale further honed his skills studying under international chefs including Thomas Keller at Per Se in New York.
For leisure activities, Cape Kidnappers is a must-play destination for international golfers. For non-golfers, one of New Zealand's foremost wine regions lies just beyond the property gates. Farm tours, gannet tours, hiking, and picnics are all available on site. For sheer relaxation, the full-service luxury day-spa offers a range of treatments, as well as an outdoor 50-meter heated pool, Jacuzzi and cabana. Area activities include world class fly-fishing, wine tours, art deco tours of nearby Napier, hot air ballon rides, horseback riding and river kayaking.
