This tiny little restaurant with a somewhat unkempt garden is not the first place to go for looks, but it should be the first place to go for food: it is at the center of new Texas cuisine. Try the braised rabbit or grilled elk loin.

This lunch-only place is cafeteria style. Texans are serious about their barbecue and the crowd of bankers, lawyers and stockbrokers who will attest to the excellent ribs also seem to favor side dish casseroles like zucchini or potato.

Tex-Mex can be found throughout Texas, but of course here in the Big D don't question anyone as to which city has the best. Try the brisket tacos and the sour cream enchiladas.

This is considered by many to be Dallas's best. The ambiance is exquisite with hand painted frescoes reminiscent of Versailles. The American-French cuisine is wonderful and the service is as good or better than anywhere else. Just remember that Dallas folks do dress up when they dine at a restaurant of this caliber.
